(I hope to understand "Lisp in Small Pieces" someday. I bought Lisp In Small Pieces, read 19 pages, then struck out on my own, writing a headcase macro to factor out the repetition from the SICP code, and an interpreter. For awhile last week the book Lisp in Small Pieces was the best selling book on the Canada Amazon.com website, out selling Harry Potter. One of the best approach to language implementation I ever came across! Got started on a major preoccupation - a deep study of Lisp In Small Pieces. Today I made the first order – “Lisp in Small Pieces” – it's just the kind of book to buy as a special present to myself. See "http://daly.axiom-developer.org/litprog.html" for an example using HTML. Currently Lisp in Small Pieces is number 3. I doubt I would agree to shell out the $80 it costs had I not had the RAC money in PayPal already. Caveat: this is not a best-of nor a comprehensive list of Lisp books; it is merely a selection of Lisp books you may not have heard of or that special to me in some way. So one would expect that the probability of buying the "Blue Book" given a purchase of the "Lisp in Small Pieces" would be much higher than the probability of purchasing Harry Potter.
